If you’re like many homeowners, you want to use natural products to clean and care for your hardwoods – but you’re not really sure where to start.
Here’s what you need to know.
3 DIY Cleaners for Hardwood Floors
Check out these DIY cleaners for hardwoods:
- Castile soap
- Vinegar
- Black tea
Here’s a closer look at each.
DIY Hardwood Cleaner #1: Castile Soap
Mix a teaspoon of Castile soap, four cups of warm water, and ten drops of your favorite essential oil and pour into a spray bottle. Work the cleaner into sections of the floor using a microfiber mop.
DIY Hardwood Cleaner #2: Vinegar
Mix white vinegar with warm water to remove built-up dirt from your hardwoods. (You can use this on countertops, too.) If you’re not a big fan of vinegar’s scent, add a few drops of essential oils.
DIY Hardwood Cleaner #3: Black Tea
Boil four cups of water and let a few black tea bags steep for 10 minutes. Pour the tea in a bucket, dip a soft cloth in it (and wring out the excess liquid), and wipe down your hardwood to get it shining like new again.
