3 Red Flags When You're House-Hunting
If you’re like most people, you’ll see plenty of homes during your search – and some of them will have red flags that should send you running. Here’s what you need to know.

3 Red Flags When You’re House-Hunting

If you see any of these red flags, talk to your real estate agent:

  • Too much scent
  • Foundation problems
  • Signs of skipped maintenance

Here’s a closer look at each.

#1. Too much scent

When a home is drowning in scent, it’s an indication that the seller is hiding something. There may be something they’re masking, and it could even be something terrible like mold.

#2. Foundation problems

All houses have hairline cracks in the walls – it’s part of what happens as a new home settles. However, if there are bigger cracks, or if windows and doors stick, or the cracks are up above window frames, it could signal that there are foundation problems… and those are expensive to fix.

#3. Signs of skipped maintenance

If it looks like the homeowner didn’t maintain the property, he or she may have ignored other problems – and some of them could be pretty big.
