There’s always something happening in Aspen, and this April, things are really heating up. Here’s a peek at what’s going on around town for April 2016.
April 1
Red Brick Arts Exhibition: ArtStart, the Kids’ Art Show
The Red Brick Center for the Arts is hosting ArtStart, the Kids’ Art Show all month long. Admission is free, and you can learn more at AspenArt.org.
Wild & Scenic Film Festival
At 6:30 p.m., the Wild & Scenic Film Festival opens to the public at the Wheeler Opera House. Featuring 12 short films that inform and inspire, the event also includes a cash bar, gear giveaways and more. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
Bus Stop
Kick back and enjoy Bus Stop, a bittersweet comedy set in rural, 1950s Kansas. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students at the Black Box Theatre.
April 2
Mike Super Magic & Illusion
Mike Super’s fabulous show is coming to Wheeler Opera House at 6:30 p.m. April 2. Super has been featured on “Phenomenon” on ABC and “America’s Got Talent.” Tickets are $38 at regular price and $22 for kids; if you’re a Wheeler Wins member, tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for kids.
April 3
Uncorked + Unplugged
Uncorked + Unplugged starts with a 6 p.m. wine reception at Chair 9. At 6:30, guests will enjoy the screening of “Uncorked,” have a panel discussion at 7:15 p.m. and watch Slice of Ham unplugged.

Birding With ACES
Learn everything you ever wanted to know about Colorado’s native bird species through Birding With ACES. This month, the meeting location is at Hallam Lake; admission is free, and the program is designed for birders of all skill levels. The event starts at 8 a.m. and lasts until 11 a.m.
April 5
The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame’s Skiing History Week (through April 10)
The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame’s Skiing History Week kicks off on April 5 with the SNOW-100 Film Festival Opening at the Sky Hotel. The week includes the Legacy Lecture Series and the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at St. Regis Aspen on April 9.
Aspen Shortsfest
The Aspen Shortsfest starts on April 5 and runs through April 10. This Oscar®-qualifying competition shares a wide selection of films lasting 40 minutes or less.
Aspen U: Why Natural History Matters
Explore natural history with Chris Filardi and discuss why it matters in our everyday lives. The event takes place at the Limelight Hotel on April 5 at 5:30 p.m.
Winter Words: Sandra Cisneros
Enjoy a lively talk with Sandra Cisneros, author of A House of My Own: Stories from My Life at Paepcke Auditorium on the Aspen Institute Campus. Admission is $20, and the one-hour talk starts at 6 p.m.
