If you’re like most people, you’re looking for the perfect place to celebrate 4th of July 2021 in Aspen – and this year, Stars, Stripes & Aspen Forever! is the place to be.

Stars, Stripes & Aspen, Forever!

The Stars, Stripes & Aspen, Forever celebration features good, old-fashioned 4th of July festivities, including:

  • A stationary parade
  • Music
  • Light shows

The festival takes place over three days – Friday, July 2; Saturday, July 3; and Sunday, July 4, 2021.

Stars, Stripes & Aspen, Forever! on July 2

July 2 brings live music to the celebration with the Aspen Chamber Symphony at 5:30 p.m. and, at 7:30, Theatre Aspen presents Chicago! The hilarious satire show is a must-see, and you can get tickets here.
At 9 p.m., Deadmau5 performs at Belly Up Aspen (get tickets here).

Stars, Stripes & Aspen, Forever! on July 3

The Aspen Saturday Market in the downtown Aspen area has been a tradition since 1998, and you can find Colorado-grown fruits and vegetables, meats, breads, jams and more – and there’s a food court where you can grab a snack or lunch.
Theatre Aspen performs Chicago! again at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and at 9 p.m., Big Gigantic with Covex are performing at Belly Up Aspen (get tickets here).

Stars, Stripes & Aspen, Forever! on July 4

The big fun starts on July 4 with:

  • Boogie’s Buddy Race
  • Free yoga at Red Brick Lawn
  • Kids’ parade bicycle decorating
  • Kids’ bike parade
  • Kids’ zone at Wagner Park Playground
  • Old-fashioned 4th of July Stationary Parade
  • 4th of July Concert
  • Top Gun playing at the Aspen Ice Garden
  • Laser light show downtown in Wagner Park

Boogie’s Buddy Race

Boogie’s Buddy Race at Rio Grande Park starts at 8 a.m., and you can participate virtually or in-person. (You can run any time between now and July 4 if you participate virtually.) Registration is $50 for adults if you register before the event; same-day registration is $60. You can register online here.

Free yoga at Red Brick Lawn

Enjoy 60 minutes of Vinyasa Flow yoga on the lawn with local pro Jackie Tracy. Show up at 9 a.m. to participate. Reservations required – make them here.

Kids’ parade bicycle decorating

Get prepared for the kids’ bicycle parade at Wagner Park, near the playground, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on July 4. You must register and sign a liability waiver for your child to participate; you can register here.

Kids’ bike parade

The kids’ bike parade starts on Monarch and finishes in Wagner Park (here’s a route map). You must register and sign a liability waiver for your child to participate; you can do so on-site during the decorating period.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. Note that helmets are mandatory to ride in the parade, but participating is free. Parents who want to join in must walk beside their children.

Kids’ zone at Wagner Park Playground

The Kids’ Zone at Wagner Park Playground opens at 10 a.m. and remains open until 1 p.m. Play all kinds of fun yard games, such as corn hole, Jenga and spike ball. There will also be three clowns twisting balloons, blowing bubbles, handing out Otter Pops and doing face-painting. Entertainment is provided by the City of Aspen Recreation Department, and the clowns are from Kidtoons Productions.

Old-fashioned 4th of July Stationary Parade

The streets close at the Downtown Core from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a stationary parade. Rather than the parade passing by spectators, guests are invited to walk through the stationary parade on their own for three hours.

4th of July Concert

The free 4th of July concert brings the AMFS band to the tent stage playing patriotic favorites. You can get more information here.

Top Gun playing at the Aspen Ice Garden

Enjoy the cinematic classic Top Gun at the Aspen Ice Garden – just register here.

Laser light show downtown in Wagner Park

Celebrate Independence Day with a fabulous laser light show in Wagner Park. The event is free, and from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. you can check out live mall performers; the laser light show begins at 9:15 and lasts until 9:45 p.m.
