Aspen is known for its majestic mountaintops and breathtaking views, but there’s so much more than the spectacular scenery in Aspen.
The Pitkin County library is truly one of our hidden gems. Over the years, this building has managed to maintain its charm while growing to meet the needs of Aspen area residents. If you haven’t connected with Aspen’s library, here’s what you need to know.
The Pitkin County Library
Pitkin County Library
120 North Mill Street
Aspen, CO 81611
(970) 429-1900
As a result of recent renovations, the ever-expanding library is enormous at nearly 40,000 square feet. Not only are there books galore, but there’s a new digital media lab, a renovated children’s area and a café to satisfy those food (and caffeine) cravings. Pitkin County Library also offers reading spaces on the rooftop.
The extensive reading collection isn’t the only attraction for residents—the library hosts workshops and special events just about every day. You can catch a classic movie, join a language club, or even take a yoga class. Their event calendar is packed with things to do.
This fantastic library cherishes the children and teens in the area and caters to them with story times, reading programs and gaming days. They even hold a Paws to Read program which allows children to read to dogs in a calming environment—it’s a win-win for both parties.
If you’re thinking of moving to the Aspen area, check out the Pitkin County Library and see what they have to offer. It’s truly amazing, and we’re sure you’ll find the rest of Aspen just as wonderful.
